Blog Sketch/Reflection

  • What inspired you to choose the specific design elements and layout for your blog?

What inspired me to choose the specific design elements and layout for my blog was mostly from looking at blog layouts on pinterest. I knew what type of theme I was looking for and searched for inspiration related to pastel colors, room decor, travel, beach theme etc. Even though I wasn’t sure what the topic of my blog would be but I knew that I wanted something bright, funky and colorful. On my blog sketch document, you can see the different blog layouts I found on pinterest and where I got the inspiration from. I really loved the unique borders and backgrounds of most of the blogs I found and I loved the fonts and graphics in them as well. Which is what led me to want something similar color, font and page style wise. I really like this one blog I found where each section of the page was broken apart with a curvy, wave-like line instead of just a straight break. I thought it made the page flow more and I really hope I can implement something like it into my blog.

  • How do you envision your blog’s visual aesthetics contributing to the overall user experience and engagement?

I envision my blog’s visual aesthetics to be welcoming and inviting towards users. The colors will catch their eyes and make them want to keep looking and coming back. I feel like the funkiness and bright colors and graphics will draw in users who like that kind of thing and are looking for something that brings out their fun, funky side. Because I know I’m always looking for something like that on pinterest or just online in general and I want to give users that outlet where they can see that type of thing. Funky colors, designs, that 60s-70s theme.

  • In what ways does the chosen design align with the content and theme of your blog, and how might it enhance or complement the message you want to convey to your audience?

The chosen design aligns with the content and theme of my blog because I want to promote funky room/home decor that people don’t really see that much and give people a place where they can see those types of wall art, furniture etc and figure out where they can buy them from or even just to give them inspiration for their own homes. The type of room decor I’m trying to promote and cast a spotlight on is the 60s-70s style decor as well as just funky cool art like pieces that can really transform a home. Mushroom lamps, fruit shaped stools, a UFO light fixture and tons of other weird, funky and fun decor is very colorful and my design definitely compliments that with its colors and funky font as well as the way I’ve chosen to highlight certain elements. The fun graphics and background images will certainly highlight my content and match the theme perfectly. It will show that I want to display to my audience that home decor doesn’t have to be “millenial gray” or neutral colors and boring knick knacks, a home can be whatever you want. The walls can be pink if you want them to be. The message I’m essentially trying to convey is your home should reflect the most colorful, fun parts of you. And I’ll have inspiration and ideas to reflect that.
